Understanding the basic requirements of Panasonic battery charging process is the basis of analyzing various charging technologies. The basic requirement of battery charging is that the charging current should be less than or equal to the charging current of Panasonic battery. Otherwise, excess current will cause electrolyte to be consumed too quickly, resulting in the following hazards: increasing the water loss rate of storage batteries, increasing maintenance workload, for maintenance-free batteries, it will cause the early failure of storage batteries; generating acid fog, causing environmental pollution, endangering workers'health; reducing charging efficiency, resulting in energy sources. Serious waste.
Charging process is the inverse reaction process of discharge electrochemical reaction. If the process of charge electrochemical reaction is carried out in an ideal state, the process should be reciprocal, that is, the charge and discharge should be basically equal. However, under the condition of serious gas evolution, the energy consumed in the process of effective charge electrochemical reaction is less than 40% of the total electricity, that is, more than 60% of the energy wasted.
The gas generation gathers in the porous electrode of the battery, which reduces the contact area between the electrolyte and the porous electrode. That is to say, the interface of charging electrochemical reaction decreases greatly, which reduces the rate of charging chemical reaction, makes charging very difficult and prolongs the charging time.
Serious gas evolution can damage Panasonic batteries:
(1) The generation of a large number of gases has scouring effect on the plate active substance, which makes the active substance easy to soften and fall off.
(2) At higher polarization voltage, the grid of positive plate will produce serious corrosion and lead 02. This corrosive substance is totally different from the electrochemical existing PB02. It is an irreversible oxide with poor conductivity, which makes the grid deformed, fragile and loses its skeleton and conductive function. Therefore, overcharging should be prevented as far as possible.
Long-term inadequate charging, unreacted active substances will produce irreversible and highly positive large particles of PbS04 grains (i.e. irreversible sulfation) which will reduce the capacity of the battery, increase the internal resistance, increase the difficulty of charging, and cause the early damage of the battery. Therefore, Panasonic batteries should be adequately charged to prevent irreversible sulfation.
